Al Masane Cu-Zn Mine

The Mine is located in the South-West of Saudi Arabia at an elevation of 1620m, and approximately 640km South-East to Jeddah. It lays about 414km away from Jazan Port on the Red Sea, connected to Najran by a newly paved road, and 835km away from Jeddah. The nearest communities of significant size are Khamis Mushayt which is 190km away, Abha to the West is 220km away and Najran to the South-East is approximately 100km away from the mine site.

The mineralized zones, Sa’adah, Al Houra and Moyeath have been outlined by diamond drilling. The Sa’adah and Al Houra zones occur in a volcanic sequence that consists of two mafic-felsic sequences with interbedded exhalative cherts and meta-sedimentary rocks. The Moyeath zone was discovered after the completion of underground development in 1981. It is located along an angular unconformity with underlying felsic volcanic and shales. The principal sulphide minerals in all of the zones are pyrite, sphalerite and chalcopyrite. The precious metals occur chiefly in tetra-hydrate and as tellurides and electrum.

The total Measured and Indicated Resource at Al Masane Deposit is 9.4mt grading at 4.23% Zn; 1.21% Cu, 0.97g Au/t and 31 g Ag/t. The total Inferred Resource is 0.6mt, grading at 7.42% Zn, 1.00% Cu, 1.18 g Au/t and 13g Ag/t.

AMAK also entered into a contract with China National Geological & Mining Corporation, China (CGM) on 29th June 2010 for underground mining, concentration test, engineering, equipment procurement, construction, equipment installation, fulfilling of design criteria rehabilitation and pre-production works over a period of fifteen (15) months followed by production period of forty five (45) months for an annual production of 700,000tons of ore from underground.

On 3rd of July, 2011, AMAK signed a contract with CGM for Operation, Maintenance and Management of the surface works, designed and constructed by CGM and as defined in the Employer’s Information to Bidders for a period of thirty six (36) months. The major Scope of Work includes production of Cu & Zn concentrate, Gold-Silver bullion, talc and tailings products at a rate of 2000tpd (0.7MT/PA) from ore.

” We completed the testing and commissioning of our mining facility , which is fully operational as of quarter 3 of 2012. The facility was officially inaugurated
by His Royal Highness Prince Mishaal bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prince of Najran on 2 October 2012 “
